Secu Trucking App

UX Case Study | Secu App | 2024

Meet the Client

Based in London, England. They work with a range of businesses to streamline operations and improve customer experiences. Our client approached us to develop a trucking and tracking app designed to optimize their logistics and delivery systems. With this app, they are able to provide real-time tracking updates, ensuring more efficient delivery management and faster resolution of customer queries. By integrating AI and advanced tracking technologies, the app helps them keep pace with the demands of the fast moving e-commerce industry.

Overview

Our application offers a straightforward and secure platform for truck drivers and fleet managers. To begin, drivers go through a simple one-time registration process where they enter their name, phone number, and essential vehicle details, including the truck license and number plate. For complete verification and safety, the app requires users to upload necessary documents, such as their contract, and a clear picture of their truck. This initial setup ensures all information is verified and ready for the road.

Once a driver's profile is complete, they can start a trip with a single tap. The core feature of our app is the powerful, real-time tracking system that allows you to monitor the truck's entire journey from its starting point to its destination. This provides complete visibility and peace of mind, enhancing security and improving logistics management. Whether you are a driver on the move or a manager at the office, our app keeps you connected and in control.

Problems

  • Complex and Manual Onboarding Process: The initial registration requires drivers to manually enter a lot of information (name, phone, license details) and upload multiple documents and photos. This process can be time-consuming, frustrating for drivers who are not tech-savvy, and prone to typing errors. A difficult sign-up process can discourage users from adopting the app in the first place.
  • Inconsistent Tracking & High Battery Consumption: Real-time tracking is the core feature, but it heavily relies on the driver's phone having a stable internet connection (GPS and mobile data). In remote or rural areas, connectivity can be weak, leading to gaps in the tracking data. Furthermore, constant GPS usage can drain the phone's battery very quickly, which is a major concern for drivers who need their phone for communication and other tasks throughout the day.
  • Data Security and Privacy Concerns: The app collects a significant amount of sensitive information, including personal contact details, license information, contract documents, and real-time location data. If this data is not properly secured, it could be vulnerable to breaches, putting drivers' privacy and commercial information (like routes and cargo details) at risk of being accessed by unauthorized parties.
